Road and train line closed after north Wales flooding

Some train lines and roads in north Wales remain closed as the clean-up operation continues following flooding.

Motorists were rescued from vehicles in Bethesda in Gwynedd and Llangefni on Anglesey was left under 3ft (90cm) of water on Wednesday.

A replacement bus service is running between Llandudno Junction and Blaenau Ffestiniog.

The 17:15 GMT Irish Ferries' service between Holyhead and Dublin has been cancelled.

On Anglesey, the A545 Beaumaris Road between Bryn Teg Lane and Dale Street remains closed.

More than 250 flood-related calls were received by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service overnight on Wednesday.

Llangefni toy shop trader John Hughes said the flooding was the worst he had seen in 70 years.

"I've never seen anything like it," he said.

Neil Bevan, who runs a caravan and camping supplies business, said his premises were affected by several inches of water.

"We've just got to get on with it and start mopping up and counting the costs," he said.
