Ceredigion: Dozens protest against roadworks threatening local shop

Dozens of people have protested following news a local shop could close due to a road development.

The owners of Siop Popeth in Penrhiw-llan, Ceredigion, have said a new pavement will stop customers being able to park at the shop.

"If they can't park, we have no custom, if the lorries can't deliver, we have no supplies... if that happens our shop will close," said owner Julie Miller.

Ceredigion council has been asked for comment.

More than 50 people from the village and the surrounding area turned up to protest against the pavement on Tuesday.

"Without any customers we might last a month or two months, that's it. We won't have a choice," added Ms Miller, who runs the shop with her husband Dara.

BBC Wales has contacted the developer, Cartrefi Moelfre, and Ceredigion council for a response.
