Caerphilly school bans fireworks after explosions scare
A primary school has banned fireworks events after a display got out of control.
People screamed and ran to safety after explosions at Derwendeg Primary School in Hengoed in Caerphilly county and shrapnel hit "traumatised" children.
The school said an investigation had "not identified any conclusive cause" and it was an "unfortunate accident".
But it will have no more fireworks "as the safety and wellbeing of the whole school community is paramount".
The school said it had "followed the appropriate procedure and notified the council's health and safety team".
Gwent Police said at the time of the accident in November that no injuries or damage were reported.
