Beddau: Woman dies in 'tragic accident' at rugby club
A 37-year-old woman has died following a medical emergency at a rugby club.
Emergency services were called to Beddau RFC, Rhondda Cynon Taf, at about 22:00 BST on Saturday where the woman had "collapsed and died".
South Wales Police said the coroner had been informed and that enquiries into the circumstances of the incident were continuing.
A Beddau RFC spokesperson described what had happened as a tragic accident.
The club, which was closed on Sunday following the incident, said it would not be making further comment.
'Tragic news'
The Welsh Ambulance Service said it sent two ambulances to the medical emergency.
"Crews were also supported by emergency medical retrieval and transfer service colleagues," a spokesperson said.
Hundreds of messages of support were left on the Beddau RFC Facebook page from individuals and other clubs in south Wales.
One said: "Tragic news, our thoughts are with the family, and friends."
Another, from nearby Pontyclun RFC, said: "Sending our deepest condolences to the family and all at Beddau rugby football club. Our thoughts are with you all at this difficult time."
Rhondda Cynon Taf council said it had been told what happened as it was the health and safety regulator and licencing authority.
It said its investigations were ongoing.
A spokesman said: "Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased."
