Firefighters called to four mountain fires across Wales

Fires have broken out on four mountains sending out plumes of smoke across the countryside and nearby towns.

Five engines and specialist vehicles called to the hillside of Glynfach, Porth, Rhondda Cynon Taf at 15:00 BST were in attendance at 22:00, Mid and West Wales Fire Service said.

A grass fire, close to Maesycoed, Pontypridd broke out at about 13:00 BST and spread into nearby woods.

Crews were also called to Machynlleth, Powys and Aberangell, Gwynedd.

The fire service crews remain at the scene in Aberangell, and are due to return on Sunday morning after being deployed there at about 14:30 BST on Saturday.
