Mumbles Pier: Extent of fire damage seen from above
Images show significant damage caused by a blaze which ripped through a former nightclub, threatening a pier.
Plumes of smoke were seen billowing from the old Cinderella's nightclub, in Swansea, after the fire took hold on Wednesday.
Firefighters battled to stop the flames engulfing the nearby Mumbles Pier as the fire raged.
Now images taken via drone show the extent of the destruction.
Mumbles Pier was closed, with people asked to leave the popular tourist site, after the blaze started at 11:10 BST.
At its height, seven fire engines were at the scene, as firefighters battled to stop the fire from spreading to the pier.
No one was injured in the blaze, which was put out at around 21:30 on Wednesday, but images show there has been significant damage to the buildings.
Mid and West Fire and Rescue Service said crews remained at the pier on Thursday, inspecting the site and dampening down hotspots.
The owners of the pier believe the blaze started at the former Cinderella's nightclub.
Fred and Bert Bollom, third-generation owners of Mumbles Pier, said as a family they were "devastated" and it was "utterly heart breaking".
They said it was believed to have started at the former Cinderella's "and spread throughout the row of buildings on that side of our complex."
"Crews remained at scene throughout the afternoon and well into the night. Reinspection of the scene has continued at regular intervals and a small number of appliances currently remain at the incident," the service said.
