SP Energy, which provides electricity in north and parts of mid Wales, reported power cuts in Llanbrynmair and Staylittle in Powys, and at Llanbedr in Gwynedd.

There were other faults on the Llyn Peninsula and at Llanerchymedd and Bodedern on Anglesey.

The company's license director Liam O'Sullivan told BBC Radio Wales: "We're waking up with still very strong wind speeds.

"We've been working through the night to restore power back to homes, we've got a couple of hundred customers who we aim to restore with supply throughout the course of the day - it will depend on the need for the wind speeds to reduce."
