A woman has died after being hit by a car in Conwy county.

The pedestrian was struck by a Volvo on the A547 Abergele Road at Llanddulas, near Gwrych Castle, the location of the TV show, I'm a Celebrity.

The local woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the blue Volvo was "shocked but uninjured", North Wales Police said.

The road remains closed while police investigations continue following Saturday's crash at about 17:05 GMT.

Officers said they have informed the coroner.

Sgt Emlyn Hughes, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: "I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this tragic incident, or who may have dashcam footage, to contact the Roads Policing Unit."

The A547 Abergele Road has been closed between the North Wales Business Park, Abergele, and Rhyd-Y-Foel Road, Llanddulas.
