Lack of transition plan could hinder ASN students

A visually impaired student who dreams of becoming a teacher has called for further support to help pupils like her achieve their ambitions at university.

Katy Orr, 17, has a severe visual impairment, with only 20% vision in her left eye and none in her right.

The Ayrshire teenager told BBC Scotland News that there was "a significant gap in communication" between her school and her university regarding her needs when she transitions to university.

She is concerned it could mean she falls behind in her studies.

Now charities and campaigners are seeking further assistance for ASN students.
