Gang steal alcohol and threaten driver at M74 services
Detectives are investigating the theft of alcohol from a lorry after a driver was threatened by a group of men at a service station on the M74.
Police said the theft happened at Abington services between midnight and 01:00 on Friday.
The suspects then left in a lorry with a white cab and headed south.
Officers are also looking into attempted thefts on 30 HGVs which had their sides slashed at two service stations in Dumfries and Galloway.
It was later established that 10 vehicles at Johnstonebridge services and 20 at Gretna services had their curtain sides cut between 01:00 and 01:30.
Insp Tony Gallagher said: "Our inquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may be able to help to come forward.
"We would be keen to speak to anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity at any of these service stations or who may have dash cam footage from Thursday night or the early hours of Friday morning."
Det Sgt Ally Queen said: "Despite the time of night, the motorway would have been busy and I am asking people to get in touch with any information that could assist, no matter how small or insignificant it may appear."
