One dead and three injured in A7 accident near Heriot
David PurchaseOne man has died and three other people - including two children - have been injured in a two-car crash on the A7 in the Scottish Borders.
Emergency services were called to the scene near Heriot at 12:40 on Sunday.
A 23-year-old man who was driving a black Audi A3 was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of a black Range Rover - a 45-year-old man - was taken to hospital along with his two passengers, a 15-year-old girl and a nine-year-old boy.
They were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and the Royal Hospital for Children in Edinburgh.
The road was shut south of the junction for Tynehead for several hours for collision investigators to carry out inquiries at the scene.
Sgts David Waddell said: "We are in the process of establishing the full circumstances and I would ask any members of the public who have not spoken to us yet to contact us, any small piece of information could prove significant.
"I would also appeal to anyone with dashcams or home recording equipment to check their footage as it could assist us in our investigation."
