Man dies in Dumfries and Galloway house blaze

A man has died in a house fire in a south of Scotland village.

Police Scotland said it was called out to reports of a blaze at a property on Lady Street in the village of Brydekirk near Annan at about 09:40 on Monday.

In a short statement it confirmed that the man had been pronounced dead at the scene and had yet to be formally identified.

It added that inquiries were ongoing but there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
