Black Isle's Fettes Sawmill workshop destroyed in blaze

A fire has destroyed a workshop at a sawmill near Inverness.

Firefighters were called to Fettes Sawmill near Tore on the Black Isle at about 23:15 on Wednesday.

Crews from Inverness, Beauly, Dingwall, Nairn, Drumnadrochit and Fortrose tackled the fire and it took more than four hours to extinguish the blaze.

The incident closed the A832 to traffic between Muir of Ord and the Tore roundabout. The business owners said they were "devastated" by the fire.

In a statement on its Facebook, the owners of the sawmill and garden supplies business said: "I want to thank everyone for all the very kind messages and offers of help.

"The fire brigade services from Dingwall, Nairn, Inverness and Fortrose have worked extremely hard through the night to save our office. We can't thank them enough."
