Driver killed and man arrested after crash with HGV in Lesmahagow

A car driver has died and a 20-year-old man has been arrested after a crash with a lorry in South Lanarkshire.

Police Scotland said officers were called to the collision involving a car and HGV on the B7078 Carlisle Road in Lesmahagow at about 08:05 on Thursday.

Emergency services attended the incident near the Kerse Roundabout, but the car driver died at the scene.

Sgt Chris McColm said: "Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this collision."

Police Scotland has asked for anyone who saw the vehicles before the collision or has dash cam footage to get in touch.
