Man dies in hospital after two-vehicle crash on A1

An 87-year-old man has died after a being involved in a car crash on the A1 near Thorntonloch.

John Paul was driving a silver Nissan Pixo when it collided with a silver Volkswagen Passat at about 15:05 on Sunday, between Dunbar and Cockburnspath.

Mr Paul, from Duns, was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he died on Tuesday.

Police Scotland urged anyone with information to contact officers.

Sgt Barry Sommerville said: "Our thoughts and condolences are with John's family at this difficult time."
