'They never thought I'd speak, let alone sing'

Despite being born unable to breathe, 18-year-old Brodie Brown from Stirling has defied the odds by winning awards for two of his songs at the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.

He was born with a rare condition called Cystic Hygroma which saw him need over 70 operations over the course of his childhood.

This took a toll on his mental health and he had a breakdown when he was aged 14.

He was then gifted a bass guitar from The Fratellis for his 15th birthday, which ignited his passion for music and songwriting.

He has gone on to win awards for his talent, proving that resilience triumphs over adversity.
