Man, 41, dies after Newtongrange garden disturbance

The family of a man who died during a disturbance at a garden in Newtongrange in Midlothian have said he was a friend to all who met him.

Roderick Georgeson, known as Roddy and who was 41, died at Lingerwood Road on Saturday evening.

A 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Detectives have appealed for anyone with information to come forward, including drivers with dash-cam footage.

Police were called to the address in Lingerwood Road at about 20:50 on Saturday. The emergency services attended but Mr Georgeson died at the scene.

In a statement issued through Police Scotland, his family said: "Roddy was a much loved son, who was kind, bright and a friend to all who met him."

Det Insp Frank Travers said police were keen for more information about Mr Georgeson's death.

He added: "In particular, I would ask motorists with dash cam devices, who were in the area during Saturday evening, to check their footage for any information which could assist the investigation.

"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank members of the public for their support and co-operation as we continue our inquiries."

The 48-year-old man arrested and charged in connection with the case is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.
