Ex-Post Office chair 'seeking revenge' - Badenoch

The former Post Office chairman’s claims around the circumstances of his sacking was a “blatant attempt to seek revenge” the business secretary has said.

Speaking to the Sunday Times, Henry Staunton said that when he was sacked Ms Badenoch told him: "Someone's got to take the rap" for Post Office failings - a claim she has denied.

Kemi Badenoch told the Commons the government did everything it could to manage Henry Staunton's dismissal is a “dignified way”, but that she would not hesitate to defend herself.

She said the Post Office’s priority must be to manage the compensation claims for the hundreds of sub-postmasters who were wrongly convicted over fraud claims.
