Conservative backbench MPs call for Rwanda bill to be pulled
The European Research Group has called on the government to scrap its Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Bill, due to be debated in Parliament on Tuesday.
Chairman Mark Francois said he doubted "final decisions" would be taken on Monday on a vote, and declined to say if members would back it, but added the government would be "best advised to pull the bill".
David Jones, a member of the so-called "star chamber" of Tory lawyers, said he did not think the bill was easily amendable.
