Mayobridge: Pedestrian killed in County Down was Joe Rooney

A pedestrian who died after a road crash in County Down on Friday was Joe Rooney, police have confirmed.

Mr Rooney, who was 45, was struck by a grey Audi car on the Hilltown Road, Mayobridge, shortly after 06:00 GMT.

Police said he lived in the village and was originally from Rostrevor.

Officers have appealed for witnesses or anyone who may have footage of the incident to contact them.
