Kircubbin: Child dies after being hit by car

A child has died after being struck by a car on the Rowreagh Road near Kircubbin in County Down.

It happened shortly before 20:20 BST on Monday.

Police said the boy was struck by a car and was taken to hospital, but died of his injuries.

The Ambulance Service said that four rapid response paramedics and two emergency crews were sent to the scene following the incident.

The road has now reopened and police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.
