Staithes assault: CCTV appeal to trace man after victim dies
Police have issued CCTV images of a man they are trying to trace in connection with an assault in Staithes in which the victim later died.
The man was taken to hospital to be treated for head injuries following the attack on 13 March, but has since died, North Yorkshire Police said.
Officers have appealed for Huw Owen, 40, from Scarborough, to come forward.
On Wednesday they released CCTV images appearing to show him buying bottles of alcohol from a shop in Newcastle.
He had a beard and was seen wearing a dark, possibly green puffer-style jacket, a light-coloured woollen hat with a bobble, dark trousers or jeans and had a green-looking backpack, police said.
Officers are working with colleagues from Northumbria Police to trace Mr Owen's whereabouts and have urged the public not to approach him, but to contact them if he has been seen.
Police said: "Officers are renewing their appeal to anyone who knows where Huw Owen is and ask them to call 999 and pass that information as a matter of urgency.
"We also appeal to him to do the right thing and contact the police himself."
