A Grade II listed hall near Scarborough could become home to a spa and wedding venue, if plans are approved.

Six holiday lets are also proposed in the scheme at Killerby Old Hall, near Cayton Bay beach.

The applicants said their plan would "satisfy growing demand for this this type of facility" with no changes planned for the listed building.

North Yorkshire Council has not set a date to consider the planning application.

The site currently has 47 caravan pitches, glamping pods and holiday cottages, some with hot tubs, and a swimming pool.

The proposed wedding venue would replace an existing caravan storage area, the applicants say

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service the redundant stone building would be converted into holiday lets and a spa.

The proposed wedding venue would replace an existing caravan storage area and would be timber-clad.

Planning documents state increased visitor spending arising from the proposals would have a "positive economic impact on other local businesses".

The applicants said the site was "largely separated from neighbours" and as a result they did not envisage "adverse social effects".

The plans said the impact on the wider countryside would be "negligible" due to screening by trees and hedgerows.
