Three teenage boys have been charged with robbery and wounding with intent after a man was stabbed in Harrogate.

The man in his 30s was seriously hurt in an attack near the Victoria shopping centre early on Friday.

The boys - aged 13, 15 and 16 - were arrested a short time later on suspicion of attempted murder and later charged with lesser offences.

The 15-year-old is also charged with possession of a 13in knife and possession of cannabis.

The boys appeared before York Magistrates' Court, where the 16-year-old and 15-year-old were remanded in a youth detention centre.

The 13-year-old was granted conditional bail.

All three are due to appear at Harrogate Youth Court on 8 January.

The victim, who has not been named, received cuts to his face, back and leg, which the police said were serious but not life-threatening.

Witnesses and anyone with information about the attack, which happened just before 14:40 GMT on 3 January, is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police.
