Pop stars, artists and royalty were among the guests at York Minster as singer Ellie Goulding married Caspar Jopling.

Sarah, Duchess of York and her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, were among the guests.

A reception was held afterwards at Castle Howard, near Malton, about 15 miles (24km) from York.

The 32-year-old musician became engaged to the 27-year-old art dealer in 2018.

She arrived at the cathedral in a blue Volkswagen camper van and was greeted by cheers from the large crowd.

Earlier downpours of rain had cleared by the time most guests arrived, in buses, for the 15:00 BST ceremony.

The princesses and their mother were greeted by Jack Brooksbank, Princess Eugenie's husband, who was one of the groomsmen.

Leading the celebrities arriving at York Minster were Katy Perry and her boyfriend Orlando Bloom.

Other showbiz guests included James Blunt, Tracey Emin, Sienna Miller, fitness coach Joe Wicks, comedian Jimmy Carr.

Normally a couple must have a "connection" to York Minster and apply for a special licence to marry there. A spokesperson for the cathedral said the couple had "fulfilled" the qualifying criteria.

Miss Goulding was raised in Herefordshire, while Mr Jopling has strong connections to Yorkshire.

His father is the Honorable Nicholas Jopling, of Thirsk, while his mother Jayne Warde-Aldam and his step-father own Frickley Hall, a Georgian stately home near Doncaster.
