Child in life-threatening condition after A338 crash

A child has suffered life-threatening injuries and two more people have been seriously hurt in a crash, police say.

Wiltshire Police were called to a three-vehicle collision on the A338 Salisbury Road, Downton, at 7:30 BST.

A Vauxhall Astra was in collision with a Ford Transit and then a Toyota Corolla a bit further down the road, police said.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service sent three crews to the scene and the road remains closed.

The driver of the Astra, a woman in her 20s, suffered serious injuries, and a child passenger in the rear of the vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries.

Another child passenger sustained minor injuries, while the driver of the Toyota was seriously injured.

Police said the driver of the Ford suffered no reported injuries.

Police are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.

Traffic is being redirected through Warrens Lane.
