Primark opens in Bury St Edmunds to queues of excited shoppers
Shoppers queued in the cold this morning to be among the first inside a new clothing store.
The first Primark in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, was opened at 10am and shoppers were greeted by a live DJ.
Cordons were put in Charter Square to manage the queues, with people arriving ahead of the official ribbon cutting.
The Primark is 33,300 sq ft (3,094m²) and situated in the former Debenhams, on the ground and first floors.
It is the global retailer's 193rd store in the UK and has created around 100 new jobs.
The shop will form part of a £100m investment from Primark into its UK portfolio this year, which aims to reach 195 stores and add up to 700 new staff members.
