A controversial town centre Christmas tree has been blown over in strong winds.

The tree sculpture made of 41 aluminium spheres was originally unveiled on Ipswich's Cornhill in 2012 but was moved to the waterfront in 2017 after it divided opinion.

The tree, which is next to the University of Suffolk, has been blown on to its side during Storm Henk.

The extent of the damage is not yet known.

The Met Office had issued an amber weather warning in the East of England.
