The owners of a tattoo parlour are holding a free "footprint tattoo day" to raise awareness of baby loss.

Jamie Hart and Paul Stansby - who have both suffered loss as fathers - said they wanted to create "something permanent" for families affected by baby loss.

The pair are founders of the Lucky 13 tattoo studio in Ipswich, Suffolk.

Mr Stansby said he hopes the day will show people "they can build strength from each other".

During Baby Loss Awareness Week (BLAW), which took place between 9 and 15 October, communities came together to share their experiences.

However, Mr Stansby said his friends felt "disheartened" that tributes placed during BLAW would be taken down following the event.

"We wanted to help them have something permanent," he said.

Mr Stansby previously lost one of his twins, and Mr Hart lost both his twins four years ago.

"It's something that you never really get over. It's always on your mind. It's heart-breaking," said Mr Hart.

Tattoo artist Amy Peck created a footprint tattoo that the studio will be offering customers for free on 30 October.

Mr Hart said he hopes the tattoo will "symbolise" and "help raise awareness" of baby loss.

"Everyone is welcome. We just want to make this event amazing," said Mr Hart.

Mr Stansby said friends have gained "massive strength" by sharing their experiences and hopes the day will show people they are not alone.

The studio will be accepting walk-ins for the footprints tattoo between 8:00 and 20:00 GMT.
