Storm Babet is set to batter parts of eastern England with heavy rain and possible flooding from Wednesday night.

A yellow weather warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office for Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.

It is in place from 21:00 BST on 18 October until 06:00 on 21 October.

The Met Office has warned of possible disruption to rail services, flooded roads and power cuts.

Strong south-easterly winds could exacerbate the impact of the rain, the Met office said.

Despite the weather warning being in place across several days, it has said rain may ease at times.

The heaviest rainfall is likely to be across high ground in this region, although even some low lying more populated areas are likely to see some heavy rainfall also.

People are being warned of a potential for homes and businesses to flood; possible disruption to public transport; difficult driving conditions; flooded roads and power cuts.
