Cyclist killed in three-car Ipswich town centre crash

A cyclist in his 30s was killed in a town centre crash involving three cars.

The crash, at about 22:00 BST on Thursday in Vernon Street, Ipswich, involved Skoda, Volkswagen and Audi cars.

Police said the Audi driver left the vehicle and fled the scene.

A man in his 20s was later arrested at an address in Shotley on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

A second man, also in his 20s, was arrested at the same address on suspicion of assisting an offender and obstructing a police officer.

Police said the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road, close to Ipswich Waterfront, remains closed between Stoke Bridge to the Hawes Street roundabout while investigations take place.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
