Thwaite fire: Crews spend eight hours tackling roof blaze

Fire crews spent several hours tackling the blaze on Monday

About 70 firefighters spent nearly eight hours tackling a blaze at a thatched cottage in a Suffolk village.

Crews were called to the home in Church Lane, Thwaite just after 07:30 BST and extinguished the flames by 15:10.

Twelve fire engines from Suffolk and six from Norfolk were sent to the incident.

Suffolk fire service had urged people to "avoid the immediate area to allow access" for vehicles fighting the blaze.
