Coppenhall Place: Man eats potato to prove Crewe works land safe

A developer's representative ate a potato during a council meeting to prove land on which a housing estate was built posed no danger to human health.

The site's previous permission became invalid after concerns relating to the land being contaminated.

Committee member councillor Steven Edgar brought potatoes grown at the site, and developer Countryside Partnerships' representative ate part of one after stating it was safe.
