A man was found hiding in the loft at a house being used to grow cannabis worth an estimated £90,000, police said.

The man was discovered when officers raided the property in Stone Cross Drive, Sprotbrough, on Wednesday.

South Yorkshire Police said about 90 cannabis plants were found growing in two rooms, in what was described as an "elaborate set up".

A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of the production of a class B drug, the force said.

Sgt Kelly Ward said: "Cannabis is far from a harmless drug and selling it can fund organised crime groups which wreak fear, havoc and misery on local communities.

"We will not allow this to happen, and we will continue in our efforts to disrupt the drugs supply and create safer neighbourhoods."
