New mums targeted in Sheffield breastfeeding photo scam

New mums have been targeted by a fake NHS worker who asked them to send breastfeeding photos in exchange for hand sanitiser and food.

Women in Sheffield were contacted by someone claiming to be a senior worker at a neonatal unit in the city.

They were asked to send photos via messaging apps, said South Yorkshire Police.

However, the requests were fraudulent and anyone who has been contacted should contact the force.

A 27-year-old man has been interviewed by police in connection with the suspected fraud.

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals received calls from a number of mothers and it was discovered the individual who contacted them did not work for the NHS trust.

The force said a man had been voluntarily interviewed under caution on suspicion of malicious communications and breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

He has been released while the investigation continues.

In a statement, the force said: "Officers are keen to hear from any other individuals who may have been contacted and have yet to report the matter to the hospital or police."
