The A303 westbound in Somerset has reopened, after heavy rainfall caused flooding.

National Highways South West closed the road between the A37 Ilchester and the A3088 in Yeovil following heavy rain on Friday.

Flood water ran from a field next to the carriageway and had been gathering since Storm Ciarán began earlier this week.

It had been expected the road would remain closed through the weekend.

National Highways is advising people travelling through the area to take care.
