Man charged with murder after death of woman in Brean

A man has been charged with murder after the death of a woman.

Simon Steeves, 70, of Weston Road, Brean, will appear at Taunton Magistrates' Court today.

Avon and Somerset Police haven't formally identified the victim, but believe it to be 59-year-old Denise Steeves.

Police officers were called to Diamond Meadow Lodge Park in Brean at 16:50 BST on Wednesday, where Ms Steeves was found critically injured.

She was pronounced dead around 17:20.

Det Insp Neil Mead said: "Her family has been fully updated on this development and our continued thoughts are with them as they come to terms with what has happened.

"We will continue to carry out a full and thorough investigation as this case progresses."
