Hundreds of tyres dumped in ditches on Somerset lane

Hundreds of tyres have been found fly-tipped on a rural lane on the Somerset Levels.
Almost 200 tyres were found dumped in roadside ditches between the villages of Mark and Burtle.
Local residents expressed their shock at how many had been fly-tipped in the area on social media.
In a statement, Somerset Council, said: "A team visited the site today to start removing the tyres reported to us over the weekend."
"Fly tipping is illegal and punishable with a maximum £50,000 fine as well as five years in prison for the most serious offences" they added.

"We try to be as responsive as possible with cases like this and it's always helpful if people can report incidents of fly-tipping as soon as possible by contacting Somerset Council.
"All incidents of fly tipping will be investigated where appropriate."
