Shrewsbury North West Relief Road recommended for approval
A relief road has been recommended for approval by planning officers.
Shrewsbury's North West Relief Road is due to be discussed at Shropshire Council's Northern Planning Committee meeting on 31 October.
The road has previously sparked protests and the Environment Agency has raised concerns about its impact.
The scheme comprises of a single carriageway running from Churncote Roundabout to Ellesmere Road roundabout.
Recently the Secretary of State for Transport Mark Harper said the road would receive money saved from the scrapping of the northern leg of HS2.
The North West Relief Road is one of a number of Midlands transport projects due to receive a share of £10bn.
Last year MP Daniel Kawczynski asked for another £30m for the road after about £54m was promised in November 2019, stating costs had risen since then.
