Telford death prompts murder probe

A murder investigation has been started after a man was found dead close to a busy junction in Shropshire.

West Mercia Police said the victim, aged in his 20s, was found on Holyhead Road in Ketley, Telford shortly before 01:00 BST.

The force said it was thought to be an "isolated incident" and suspect the man was assaulted near a children's play area off Ketley Park Road.

Two men, aged 21 and 30, arrested on suspicion of murder remain in custody.

A cordon is in place and the cross roads of Station Road, Holyhead Road, Waterloo Road and Rock Road remain closed.

Officers said they would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault and have urged anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

Ch Det Insp Dean Jones said the victim's next of kin had been informed.
