Oxfordshire Mind offered free office after base floods

A mental health charity that's office was flooded has been offered a free work space.

Oxfordshire Mind's base in Osney, Oxford, was among properties in the county to be deluged with water after heavy rainfall on 4 January.

The team had planned to operate remotely until the office is useable again.

But they have now been offered a free temporary accommodation by Podium Space.

Natasha Turner from the business said: "I'd love to open the doors to Oxfordshire Mind, which is such an important charity, and is in such an awful situation"

In response to the offer, made live on BBC Radio Oxford, Jess Wilsher, CEO of Oxfordshire Mind, said: "It's incredibly heart-warming to know people are willing in our community to help each other out", adding that "we're so grateful for that support".

She said the flooding had been an "additional unexpected challenge" for the charity, and had "disrupted how we do things".

The flood water, which was roughly a foot high, has caused damage to equipment, furniture and carpets.

Ms Wilsher said: "We do need to work out what happens next to get back to the usual service delivery, but for the time being we've really focussed on being there for people who still need us."

The flooding at the start of the month caused travel disruptions and sewage to spill into homes.
