A cash machine was stolen from a supermarket after a farm vehicle was used to smash through a wall, police have said.

Nottinghamshire Police were called to the Co-op branch on Main Street, Lowdham, just before 04:00 BST.

The force said a black van and white car were seen leaving the scene.

The store suffered significant damage in the raid, with bricks strewn across the pavement and the main window broken.

Officers have cordoned off the shop and are appealing for witnesses.

Earlier this month thieves failed in a similar raid in the county.

A spokesman for Co-op said it is assessing the damage caused to the store before it can reopen, and appealed for any witnesses to get in touch with Nottinghamshire Police.
