Heavy rain and wind warning in the East of England

Heavy rain falling on saturated ground, and wind could cause travel disruption, the Met Office has warned.

A yellow weather warning for rain has been issued for a large part of the East of England from 17:00 BST on Monday until 21:00 on Tuesday.

Another warning, for windy weather across the region, will be in place from 08:00 until 21:00 on Tuesday.

The Met Office said spray and flooding on roads could affect journey times by car, train and bus.

It said 15 to 30mm (0.5 to 1in) of rain was expected to fall.

Some parts of the region may see as much as 35 to 50 mm (1.3 to 2in) of rain, and flooding of homes and businesses is possible.

The Met Office said the warning of rain was for Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Norfolk, while the warning of wind covered the whole region.
