Electrification work on Midland Mainline at Kettering to cause disruption
Work to electrify the Midland Mainline will cause disruption over the festive period, Network Rail said.
Teams will be installing overhead line equipment and completing essential works at the Kettering North Junction.
Network Rail said the majority of the work would be carried out on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, but the complexity meant the 27 December was also needed.
The installation between Kettering and Wigston will affect services between Corby and Wellingborough.
Buses will replace trains on 27 December for passengers travelling between Leicester and Kettering, via Market Harborough.
Network Rail's Gavin Crook said: "We appreciate there is never a good time to disrupt journeys and whenever possible we complete our work at times when there are significantly fewer people travelling by train.
"We are sorry for the disruption this will cause and ask passengers to check their journey before setting off on 27 December."
