Broom Boats in Norfolk listed for sale after 125 years of trading
A business operating on the Norfolk broads for 125 years is to be sold.
Broom Boats was established on the River Yare in Brundall in 1898 and became famous for boat building and vessels for hire.
The sale of the entire 8.6 acre (3.48 hectare) site would include all private berths, buildings and hire fleet - estimated to be worth more than £3m.
In 2022, the firm bought The White Heron Pub, next to the site's entrance, which would be included in the sale.
The firm started hiring out boats in 1912, and today has a fleet of 24 "luxury cruisers" and six electronically operated boats available for hire.
Jon Patrick, of Christie & Co, which is handling the sale, said the firm's employees would keep their jobs under any new ownership.
"We've witnessed an uptick in the demand for both inland and coastal marina and boating businesses over the last 18 months," he said.
"As a result, we anticipate that interest in Broom Boats will come from a diverse range of parties."
