Liverpool shooting: Assault rifle found in cinema gunfire probe
Merseyside PoliceA gun believed to have been used when shots were fired at a cinema, a newsagent and a house in Liverpool has been found by police.
The disturbance broke out on Wednesday night and saw gunfire outside the city's Showcase Cinema.
The assault rifle weapon was recovered from a house on Thursday, police said.
A 49-year-old man from the Fazakerley area was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life and robbery.
He remains in custody, Merseyside Police said.
The cinema in Croxteth was put into lockdown at about 20:50 GMT after a man threatened staff in the foyer before shooting outside.
He was reported to have threatened two members of staff in the foyer and fired shots into the air outside before escaping in a car.
About 50 minutes earlier, a gun was fired at a News and Booze store about a mile away, on Lower House Lane in Norris Green.
At about 22:20 there were further reports of gunshots being heard at a property on Malpas Road.
Inquiries remain ongoing and police said the gun would be tested to establish if it was a viable firearm.
