Haydock murder probe: Man arrested over woman's death

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found dead at a house in Haydock.

The woman, who was in her 40s, was discovered in a home on Piele Road shortly after 09:00 BST.

A 43-year-old man was detained in Liverpool following the discovery, Merseyside Police said.

A man in his 30s found close to the scene with non life-threatening injuries remains in hospital and is being questioned, police said.

Detectives are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death but appealed for anyone in the area between 08:00 and 09:00 or who has any information to contact the force.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out into the cause of the woman's death.
