Bedbug gas: Woman admits importing poison which killed girl, 11
A woman who has admitted killing an 11-year-old girl in east London with bedbug poison has also pleaded guilty to importing the poison.
At an Old Bailey hearing on Monday, Jesmin Akter, 33, admitted importing a regulated substance.
She had previously pleaded guilty to a charge of manslaughter.
Akter, who is on bail, is due to be sentenced on July 18 and Judge Alexia Durran said she could face jail.
The substance, aluminium phosphide, was imported from Italy without a licence on 26 November 2021.
Ms Akter, scattered pellets of the chemical around her flat in Shadwell that same month, which created a dangerous gas when activated by moisture.
It had been alleged she was tackling a bedbug problem which was rife in her block of flats, and that the gas travelled to the flat of an 11-year-old girl.
The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, died in hospital the following month.
The judge told her: "It is important that although I am giving you bail today - that is no indication at all of what the final sentence might be in this case."
