An image has been released of a man the Metropolitan Police is hunting after a woman was stabbed in east London.

Officers were called to reports of a woman with a stab injury in Oakfield Road, East Ham, last Wednesday.

She was taken to an east London hospital where her injury was deemed not life-threatening or life-changing.

Investigators say Catalin Bostan, 46, could be sleeping rough in the Barking or East Ham areas and should not be approached if seen.

Mr Bostan is approximately 5ft 8in (1.72m) tall, of stocky build, and was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, burgundy trainers and a black coat with a white stripe.

The force added it believed Mr Bostan, a Romanian national, and the victim knew each other.

Anyone who sees him is advised to not approach him but to call 999 immediately.
