Man accused of spiking woman's drink in Mayfair
A 61-year-old man has appeared in court accused of trying to spike a woman's drink at a private members' club in London's Mayfair.
Vikas Nath, from Knightsbridge, is charged with administering a substance with intent.
He was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday after the woman told staff of the alleged attempted drugging.
Mr Nath did not formally enter a plea but indicated that he denied the charge.
Westminster Magistrates' Court heard that Mr Nath put the drug GBL - gamma-butyrolactone - into the woman's drink with the intent of overpowering her to allow sexual activity.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Southwark Crown Court on 14 February.
